(A BIG thank you to the folks at GotTechEd, The Poscast.  All information on this page can be found at this webpage: https://gotteched.com/the-teachers-guide-to-student-podcasting/)

So you want to podcast. . .

The Plan Comes First! Focus on the topic.
  • Podcast Title
  • Target length. How long will your podcast be?
  • Come up with general questions that will be answered during the podcast. Questions should relate to the topic. After recording, listen to see if you really did answer the questions.
  • Content should match the title. This is the audience’s first glimpse of the topic.
The Team - One person can do it all, but it may be helpful to surround yourself with a team.
  • Producer - helps with storyboard, content, and direction of podcast
  • Host/Co-Host - Leads the narrative of the podcast
  • Guests - offers expertise or opinions on the topic
  • Editor - responsible for editing audio and publishing the podcast.
  • Podcasts come in segments: Introductory segment, segments, & concluding segment
The Audio
  • Intro music - should fit your topic
  • Outro music - should either fit your topic, your audience or be more reflective of you.
  • Segment separators - short clips (usually instrumental) that separate each segment.
  • Sound effects - should fit seamlessly and match your what is being recorded.
Introduction - Should include title, hosts, guests and brief overview of what will be covered.
Conclusion - A brief recap of what was covered and a ‘thank you for listening” TO THE audience.
Outline/Storyboard - Outlining is a useful tool in making sure your podcast flows.
