Okay, Ayuyus. You all have your Kagman High gmail accounts which not only allows you to email, but gives you access to Google Drive. Google Drive is an amazingly useful place (or cloud-based application if you want to be more specific!) “It is a free service from Google that allows you to store files online and access them anywhere using the cloud.” Google Drive also gives you access to applications for creating documents and presentations. Use Google Drive to upload files and to create and share your work.

Need to study for test, gain some background information? Take a look at Kahn Academy. Kahn Academy has 1000s of video tutorials across all subject areas. Use your KHS gmail account to sign in. Having a hard time accessing Kahn Academy’s videos? Head to the library, and watch them there! CODE.org believes that “Every student in every school should have the opportunity to learn computer science.” So, if you are interested in exploring computer programing or app development, visit CODE.org. WIth its tutorials for every age group, coding becomes demystified! There is an awesome, FREE 20 hour course that you can access at any time. Interested in coding? Developing apps? Check out code.org Tried of PowerPoint or Google Slides? Why don't you give Prezi a try? "Prezi’s most noticeable feature is its zoom in and out function which really brings your message to life. Instead of “flicking” from one slide to the next – as you would do in your good old PowerPoint presentation – Prezi gives you a chance to explore a canvas of ideas by focussing on minute detail as well as allowing you to see the big picture. Instead of a slide show which offers information in accumulation, Prezi favours visual learning and works very much like a graphic organiser or a mind map." One Drawback: If you opt for the free version of Prezi you need to be online to create and present. Imagine you just finished a great book and would like to read another one that is similar. How do you find the book? Well, try What Should I Read Next. All you have to do is type in the name of an author, or a title of a book that you loved, and the website generates a list of titles that are similar in genre and feel. It is fun to use and it might help you find your next book. What have you got to lose? Give "What Should I Read Next" a try the next time you are looking for your next read. Ebooks have finally arrived to KHS, and the best part is that the ebooks are FREE! That's right, Open Ebooks is a free app that can be downloaded to ipads, iphones and android devices. Once the app is downloaded all you need is the ACCESS Code and PIN (See Mrs. Ornes). Open Ebooks is just like a library. You can borrow up to 10 books at a time for 8 weeks. After eight weeks the ebooks vanish from your device. It's easy, convenient, and there is an awesome selection of ebooks. So, what are waiting for? Download the app and start reading! |
